The Arts and Music Festival has been successfully established as an annual event in Garstang for many years. The festival takes place in August and runs for the 10 days prior to ending on Bank Holiday Monday.

The programme of events caters for all ages and interests. There are live outdoor concerts, street entertainers, dances, jazz bands, folk music, art exhibitions and a variety of workshops.

2011 saw the introduction of a Town Crier competition, this was so successful that it has been repeated ever since, and has proved to be a very popular, colourful event.

The Arts Centre is the hub of many events during this festival, and includes activities such as: poetry, painting, origami, and card design workshops. Musical concerts vary each year and will be listed in the programme of events. Past years have seen Palm Court recitals, outdoor worship with Churches Together and a variety of talented street entertainers.

Local businesses also support the festival by displaying paintings by local artists in their windows, and this becomes part of an “arts trail” that all the family can join in.

Churches are also involved in a variety of ways by offering their premises for coffee mornings, book fairs and craft exhibitions.

For the younger visitors there is a children’s club which is generally themed on week days.
